SUMMARY:6th Annual – IRWA Chapter 57 & SCCAI Joint Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Mr. Kuhn and Mr. Caringella will be discussing project benefits and\ntheir significance in the eminent domain arena. Material to be\ncovered will include the statutory and case law landscape that gives\nrise to the issue of project benefits, when and how they may apply,\nand methods and techniques used for quantifying benefits. The\nMidCoast light rail project and other public projects will be discussed\nthat will illustrate a range of potential sources of benefits and how\npotentially appraisers can measure benefits. Tips and tricks and\nsources of data will be discussed. The presenters will provide a\nperspective from both the attorney and the appraiser, including\nexperiences through the lens of both public agencies and property\nowners.\n \nBradford B. Kuhn\nPartner, Orange County\nNOSSAMAN LLP\nBrad Kuhn serves as Chair of Nossaman’s Eminent Domain & Valuation Group, likely the largest group of\nskilled eminent domain attorneys in California and the United States. Brad is a real estate and business\nlitigation attorney, with a particular emphasis in the transportation, energy/gas, water, land-use\ndevelopment, and telecommunications industries. His experience includes a broad range of residential, industrial, and commercial\nproperties involved in litigation, lending, estates and trusts, government acquisitions, fair political practice,\ntax appeal, endangered habitat evaluation, and damage studies. He has extensive experience in the\neminent domain and title defect arenas, and has testified many times in court, mediation/arbitration, and\ndepositions. Rob also has many sub-specialties including mobile homes, mitigation land, and fractional\ninterest appraisals.
